White fillings and all porcelain crowns, onlay’s, inlay’s and bridges.
Metal amalgam restorations and metal crowns and bridges used to be the standard. Although somewhat unsightly if they were put in well, they lasted quite some time. Unfortunately many leak after 10-15years and need to be replaced, and because they were dark it was difficult to tell when they were leaking and having new decay form underneath until it was too late. Today we use white composite fillings and porcelain inlay’s and onlay’s to restore these teeth with failing amalgams. Not only are they more esthetic, because of advances in the science of bonding, many will outlast their predecessors.
